RECORD NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS IN THE 7TH YEAR: 1.104 APPLICATIONS FROM 105 COUNTRIES

Organized with the objective of turning Istanbul into a trademark in the publication sector, Istanbul Fellowship Program continues to grow in its 7th edition thanks to the novelties introduced this year which sparked unprecedented number of applications for the program. Istanbul Fellowship Program will be organized on 8-9-10 March 2022 and it will continue to inspire publication sectors in other countries.

The program brings together publishers from around the world, and this year saw the highest ever number of applications so far. The event in organized by Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licencing Society with the support of Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and contributions from Turkish Ministry of Commerce, Istanbul Governorate, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Press and Publishers Society. The 7th edition of the program saw the highest number of applications ever with 1.104 applications from 105 countries.

Istanbul Fellowship program attracts the attention of the managers of publishing houses, editors, copyright agencies, professional publisher organizations, and publishing nongovernmental organizations, which submitted a record-breaking number of applications this year. The application cycle started on 25 October 2021 and ended on 24 December 2021.

WORLD PUBLISHERS MEET IN ISTANBUL
Every year, the program brings together publishers from Far Asia and Latin America to Northern Europe and Africa for holding copyright and translation negotiations in Istanbul. This year, Malaysian publishers submitted 52 applications, making the country the number one in the number of submitted applications. Malaysia was followed by Brazil (48 applications), Azerbaijan and United Kingdom (38 applications), Italy (26 applications), France (23 applications), United States and Spain (18 applications), and Canada (16 applications). 283 domestic publishers also submitted their applications for the program. The program enhances its objectives every year. Compared to the number of applications last year, this year’s application cycle generated the highest number of applications.

APPLICATIONS UNDER EVALUATION
The applications for the program will be evaluated by Istanbul Fellowship Board of Coordination. Following the evaluation by the Board, the participants will be selected. The participants of the 7th Istanbul Fellowship Program will be announced on 17 January 2022.

The seventh edition of the Istanbul Fellowship Publishing program will take place on 8-9-10 March 2022. Speaking on the event, Mr. Yusuf Ünal, Head of the Board of Coordination of the Program, said that “1.104 applications from 105 countries for this year’s event is an indication of our achievement to make sure we generate more interest in the program every year. We also seek to enhance this international interest through the ‘Focus Country Hungary’ component of the organization. As part of this component, Hungary was selected as the ‘focus country’, and publishers, poets, and authors from Hungary will attend the event.”

Istanbul Publishing Fellowship Program will bring together the publication world in Istanbul for the 7th time this year, which saw the highest-ever number of applications so far. With the introduction of new components in the program every year, Istanbul Fellowship Program has become one of the prominent events of the publishing industry. The program also provides a unique opportunity for the publication world to increase diversity. The program will be organized on a mixed basis with virtual and physical events.
