Applications are underway for Istanbul Copyright Awards, which contributes to dissemination of Turkish titles across the world. All prominent professional foreign publishing houses around the world are eligible to apply for the award, which seeks to encourage copyright exchanges from Turkish into other world languages.

11 February 2022 is the deadline for applications for “Istanbul Copyright Awards”, which is organized under the mandate of Istanbul Governorate with contributions from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and support by İstanbul Chamber of Commerce and YAYFED.

While cooperation agreements to be signed as part of the program facilitate new commercial relations in the sector, “İstanbul Copyright Awards” which is also organized as part of the program contributes to the development and promotion of the sector by encouraging translation of titles from Turkish into other world languages.

Achievements are rewarded with a view to encouraging the development of the sector, cultural cooperation, and copyright business in general. The third best performing publishing houses are to be rewarded by the organization, whereby the winner will get a check worth TRY 100.000; the runner-up TRY 60.000, and the third-place holder TRY 40.000. Awarded publishing houses must use 70% of these checks for copyright awards. The winner of İstanbul Chamber of Commerce Special Award will get TRY 30.000, and the winner of YAYFED Special Award will get TRY 20.000.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yusuf Ünal, Head of Coordination Board for İstanbul Publishing Fellowship Program stated that “52 publishing houses from 26 countries applied for last year’s İstanbul Copyright Awards with 661 titles. We believe that the number of applications from around the world will increase this year.”
